"twochevrons" (twochevrons)

I was all proud of myself for getting the 850R prepared for winter before the snow hit on Monday. I'd nailed a bunch of niggling reliability issues, gave it a last good clean, and switched out the big alloys with summer rubber for steelies and winter tires. But you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men...
Last night, when I went to drive it, one of the wipers froze to the windscreen and stripped out its drive splines, the cold caused the rear hatch struts to die (and drop the hatch on my head), and to top it all off, I just realised today that when I swapped to the winter wheels, I completely forgot that the tires were directional, and got it wrong for EVERY SINGLE ONE. Serves me right for being in a rush – I look forward to remedying all of these things on an icy driveway in below-freezing temperatures this weekend.
On the upside, even when pointing in the wrong direction, snow tires are amazing. All my other experiences with winter driving have been on cheap all-seasons, so this is a bit of an epiphany for me. That thing's a monster in the snow, and I expect it will be even better when I put the wheels on the right way around.

I think we've all been there, but I've been looking for an excuse to use this.
